Somatics

What is Somatics?
Somatic Movement Education (developed by Thomas Hanna PhD) is an effective method to reverse pain because it gets the root of all movement; your brain!
Every movement pattern you perform — from standing up and writing your name, to playing golf or the guitar — once learned, become engrained in your body. They become part of your habitual, "autopilot" patterns. Other patterns can also become engrained. Things like repetitive motions, stress responses, injuries, surgeries, all of which can lead to chronically contracted, stiff muscles called Sensory Motor Amnesia(SMA). That’s when your brain no longer has true control of how you move and sense your body.
Somatic Movement incorporates simple, safe movement technique called pandiculating.
Pandiculations retrain your whole body to function more freely and pain-free.
Beyond the pain relief, Somatics can improve sleep, decrease stress and improve mobility.
So you can get back to living the life you love!Somatic movement classes provide a gentle, safe way to release muscle tension and pain plus lower stress and anxiety.
Most classes are done lying on the floor, but many moves can be done while seated in a chair.
Who’s it For?
Whether pain holds you back from enjoying your life, you're an athlete wanting to up your game, or somewhere in between, everyone can learn more about their bodies and make them function with more ease and power.
What should I expect?
Some say it’s like getting a massage from the nervous system outward. Classes generally are done on the floor, and can be done in a chair.

Proactive Postural Restructuring

What is Proactive Postural Restructuring?
Proactive Postural Restructuring is somatic (brain-body) series of exercises primarily focused on the feet, legs and pelvis to create better anatomical alignment of your bones and joints through out your entire body. Because how your legs align and function is connected to how your pelvis, spine and neck function. An excellent complimentary movement class to Somatics!
Learn more about PPR.
Who’s this Class for?
If you want more power in your gait, improved posture and get rid of pain, this class is for you! The moves look simple, but get ready to be challenged and empowered in a whole new way.
what should I expect?
PPR classes are taught on the floor. If getting down and up off the floor is challenging, please book a private session so Kristin can guide you while you are on a massage table.
I've been doing the moves you taught me, and my lower back pain is much better.
I never did reschedule with that chiropractor since this works so well.
This will save me so much time and money!
